Just this week I received two texts from my daughter: one with pictures of the two shoes she was contemplating for the wedding; and the other of her at a fitting for her wedding dress, wearing said shoes. I'm sorry I can't be physically present for these things, and yet, it's just great that I can share in the excitement from afar. It probably helps that she has great taste so we don't clash on things. (And frankly, even if we did clash -- it's her wedding!) A couple of weeks ago she sent us one of her save-the-date postcards so we could see what they look like. I feel very in the loop!
Also this week she told me they think they have settled on who they would like to ask to officiate at the wedding. I knew the important criterion was the person be a gay minister; some names were floated. They have now chosen a lesbian minister, a UU, someone Hannah has been connected to through seminary.
I am starting to think about what I am going to wear. Here are the "restrictions" on me: "Wear whatever you want, Mom!" No pressure in that, right?!
