I think I have broken the cardinal law of blogging: must have regular entries!
As it turns out, wedding planning is not a 24/7 thing. Nor is thinking about a wedding, at least when it's not one's own.
I started this with the idea that I would not be "political" in the blog. That notion removes the opportunity for a lot of commentary, given what's been going on lately in our country. However: it feels to me that it's becoming a political act to support my daughter and her inherent rights as a US citizen.
I think about this often; I never thought my daughter might live in a more repressive society than the one in which she was raised. And yet, I frequently worry about what the future will hold for her and her future wife.
I do not have easy answers for this. I live in a liberal state, which is fortunate for me and my family. I hope the hate spewing from the current government will not last, and that we will regain our equilibrium as a civilized society. But I worry. A lot.
